I will be writing quotes from The Art of War, and then writing how that quote can be used in relation to a Starcraft melee game.

"A military operation involves deception. Even though you are competent, appear to be incompetent. Though effective, appear to be ineffective."
SC Translation:If you just started a new battle.net account, act like you are a newbie. Say things like "What does 'lol' mean?" The enemy players will pass you off as no threat. That is the time to strike.
"Attack when they are unprepared, make your move when they do not expect it."
SC Translation:Attack the enemy right after they have launched a major attack and are still rebuilding.
"The formation and procedure used by the military should not be divulged beforehand."
SC Translation:REMEBER TO SWITCH ALLY CHAT ON!
"Therefore I have heard of military operations that were clumsy but swift, but I have never seen one that was skillful and lasted a long time. It is never beneficial to a nation to have a military operation continue for a long time."
SC Translation:Don't constantly attack. Build up your forces for one precision strike.
"In ancient times skillful warriors first made themselves invincible, and then watched for the vulnerability of their opponents."
SC Translation:Build up a massive defense and then scout out your enemy's weak points in their defensive line to strike at.
"Therefore a victorious army first wins and then seeks battle; a defeated army first battles and then seeks victory."
SC Translation:Get your battle plan ready before you go into the battle. Don't just charge in blindly.
"Therefore those skilled at the unorthodox are infinite as heaven and earth, inexhaustible as the great rivers. When they come to an end, they begin again, like the days and months; they die and are reborn, like the four seasons."
SC Translation:Don't use the same damn tactics everyone else uses. When you hit the enemy with a tactic they have never seen before, they usually panic IF it is an effective tactic.
"Test them to find out where they are sufficient and where they are lacking."
SC Translation:Scout for their weak points.
"Do not follow a feigned retreat. Do not attack crack troops."
SC Translation:Don't follow them into a wall full of cannons. Don't send your squad of marines against a fleet of battlecruisers.
"So a skillful military operation should be like a swift snake that counters with its tail when someone strikes at its head, counters with its head when someone strikes at its tail, and counters with both head and tail when someone strikes at its middle."
SC Translation:When they attack your ally, attack their base, and when they attack you, have your ally attack them.
